Assuming you can use the new in-app SDK for any version of android (1.6 later I hope), you could give away free and provide some in-app buys if that is possible. Really depends on the app I guess. This feature is probably best applied to games, but I am sure other apps can do things, like provide a "support my kids by donating a buck" button or something.
