Using what? Wirelessly? Is it possible that you might be able to look at using Bluetooth (find an 802.15.1 module) for this? Or perhaps you hook the lights up to the internet and then send commands to them via internet server?
Just a few directions you might look into, I think some LoWPAN thing like Zigbee would work best for this, but the phones don't have that :-(.
