I'm finishing up writing my app, and ideally, I want it to be free,
but ad supported. If the user so chooses, I want them to be able to
pay a nominal fee to remove the ads since that way I wouldn't have to
manage multiple applications and so that ratings and download counts
would be the same. This seems possible with the Market's upcoming in-
app billing function.

However, I don't want to wait around forever for in-app billing to
roll out, especially since Google won't give us a firm timeline (and
some recent stories in the blog-o-sphere have pointed to a May
launch). Therefore, I want to know if I can "legally" do this with a
3rd party in-app purchase service such as PayPal. It would seem to
come into conflict with section 3.3 of the Android Market TOS. But, it
also seems like other apps are doing it. For example, Amazon's Kindle
app circumvents the Market when you buy a book. What's the difference
between that and my app (if there is a difference at all). Would I be
kicked out of the Market for using PayPal?

I don't know if anybody here has a clear-cut answer (except for maybe
a Google employee). But, does anyone have any experience doing this?
How did it work out?

Thank you!
