Well, my task was not to *POSITION* a view (button) within its parent........ my task was rather to *RESIZE* a particular button (/which i would findById/) out of all the 20 buttons which are *ALREADY* positioned appropriately in myXMLlayout file.

Positioning and resizing are really the same thing. Changing the size means changing at least one of the left/right coordinates (or top / bottom).

The view system treats them as one, as well - there is only one ViewGroup.onLayout method that does both.

But really..... whatever works for you.
