I have seen many cases where my carriers (AT&T and T-Mobile USA) are botching the incoming numbers, especially from international sources. Oftentimes all they display is "00123456", or they truncating the tail part because they feel the number is too long. Also be aware that in the new world of number portability this is a largely pointless exercise.
