Android development is relatively easy to get into. (For example, I never went to college and work as an Android dev.) Here in the US though, you have to be good at it or else your job will be sent to India. But on the other hand, apps are not as demanding as say making scalable backend software. So, right now if you're a good android dev you'll be making the same as a senior backend dev but doing much less stressful work.
