@Doug, Thanks for pointing that out. I'm having another go at it right now and removing the duplicate webView.setWebViewClient.
this sample code should allow the user to play either the recordings or the video embedded in the webpage she is visiting however all video is locked off from the user in webview, which we find peculiar, because MANY of the apps produced by google themselves are webview apps and they have full access to the video and audio players.
