For the most part, for debugging and browsing, you only need the framework:

There are heads and tags for specific branches / versions there.

However, it looks like that process has downloaded the entire source
code for the android system. I am only interested in the java/dalvik
stuff that I code my app against and not the linux source for actually
building the OS. Anyone else did this before? How do I do it?
