There is such an option. Its called "ADP1" .. the Android -Developer- Phone 1.
I'm terribly sorry if you bought a phone from a whole different company and are now unhappy with it, but you should take that up with the company in question (T-mobile). Technically it is a very simple change (ro.secure = 0 in properties, or ship the 'su' binary that is part of the platform.) ..I want a pony.
