Actually it is possible. Specific commands can run well on some GPUs and terribly on other GPUs. For instance, if you use the "edge fade" effect in your views, you can expect a significant performance hit on SGX GPUs like the one found in Galaxy Nexus. Once again, I cannot really help without knowing more about what exactly the app is doing.
