Let's keep politics out of this discussion and also realize that there
are a number of difference between blocking Twitter, Facebook, Youtube
(i will use T,F,Y for short), and blocking a service used for
accessing email and market apps on a mobile phone.

1. Sync is not blocked 24 hours of the day like T,F,Y, and randomly
starts working throughout the day/night
2. Sync is not blocked in all parts of China, T,F,Y is blocked
everywhere
3. T,F,Y have been used for political statements whereas Sync lets us
collect mail and download apps on our phones
4. The app market is already filtered depending on what SIM you have
in your phone and as far as i know there are no political or porn apps
on the market
5. Whilst T,F,Y are arguably very big business, they are not as
essential as collecting mail
6. Gmail is not being blocked when using a web browser

So there are some really big differences here and there must be an
alternative reason for blocking Sync ... thats what I'm trying to find
out

Is Google aware its being blocked? .... well they are very aware when
all their services got blocked earlier this year as part of the porn
crack down and even took the time to make some official statements.
Google has also spent a lot of time complying with government request
in the past which is why they were allowed to operate here in the
first place (they got a lot of stick for that i recall). Also Google
has at least one office in China and no doubt some of their staff must
be using Android phones ..... and if they really dont know about this
problem .... well then .... let me say it again ..... can someone from
Google please let us Android users in China know why we are being
blocked?

China happens to be the biggest mobile phone market in the world and
considering Apple are here now (even with a crippled WiFi 3GS, but a
working app store and mail), you would think that Google pays
attention to something that makes their phones useless
