I think you mean Code Assist? I've noticed (over many Eclipse revisions) that when Eclipse starts to get bloated, Code Assist stops working.
I don't know if it's getting some internal error, or just running out of memory to do its stuff. Either way, the solution I use is to exit Eclipse, and restart. It's also faster after you do this! I've also seen it fail when my Windows desktop manager was getting bloated shortly before running out of Window handles. Logging out and back in would probably fix that, but I've always opted for a reboot.
