For an Application upgrade, I want to change the main application icon. I am observing different behaviors depending on device (see below).
Is there a way to test it thoroughly before submitting to Market? My current test process is: 1) install Version 1 from the Android Market 2) Copy my signed Version 2 to the SD card 3) install from SD card you can see the Installation manager taking over the process and install the new app on the top of Version 1. However, the result is different per phone: Nexus, Droid are OK Cliq = new icon does not show up; however the correct app is launched (meaning that even though the icon is still the old one, the Version 2 is launched) HTC Hero: the 2 icons are showing! and they launch the same application.
