When asked about this the reply from  Mike Jennings' intro to android 
talk at the London Google Dev Day was;

"What do I think about people who've broken the license terms in order 
to get it working on various devices?......... It's pretty cool".

I'm guessing that's his person view and not an official Google legal 
position :).
