I like the EFF(1). I think that their efforts to protect the liberty of the Internet are part of the reason that it is possible for Google, the Android partnership, and us to collaborate and create this new handheld software ecosystem. Similarly, I believe there are those who would prefer that this sort of freedom not exist - who would prefer that we, we creators, could not so easily market to our customers (who might otherwise be their customers). The continuing efforts of the EFF will protect our marketplace.
For that reason, I am thinking that I will contribute a portion of the proceeds from the sale of my apps to the EFF. Fellow developers: Would you? Google: Could you add a widget to the payment processing system to do this for us; take the cut, aggregate the money transfer, and provide the appropriate tax receipt at the end of each year? Perhaps offer a selection of organizations that protect to the open information science ecology; EFF, OSDL, CC, etc. Google: I know you've already given more to this community, with less direct compensation, than anyone could have asked or even imagined. Even so; any interest in doing a percentage match for EFF contributions collected in this way? What do you think? Interesting idea, or am I out of my tree? 1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Frontier_Foundation --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
