I don't know if (in fact I doubt that) the desktop is actually
represented in the system's file system. To rename a folder on your
desktop, however, tap the folder to open it, then hold (or "long
press") the bar at the top, where the folder's name and an x icon are
(if you tap this bar it will close the folder), until you get a
"Rename Folder" dialog.
