Would not be that surprised if it got canceled. If it gets canceled I would
guess one of the following:

1. ADC 1 was such a big success that google decided that it no longer makes any
sense to have a second ADC.

2. Smartphones with data plans are starting to become universal, this is the
main goal of google therefore it is no longer that important to keep pushing
Android.

3. Economic times are really bad and given that Android has picked up plenty of
momentum it would be better to use those 5 million dollars for something else.

4. The first contest was such a pain in the ass that it's not worth it.

I've also been expecting for this announcement and been wondering what's
keeping them. Hopefully they are only late. Would hate to see the ADC II
canceled.

ADC II

On the Developer Roadmap it says there will be an announcement
regarding ADC II. But I don't remember hearing anything. Neither did
anyone ask why there wasn't any mention of it.

That's interesting.

I had been thinking for a while that they were supposed to announce ADC
II in 2008 Q4. Then, I ran across another reference to their
announcement plans (I forget where) that caused me to think I
mis-interpreted the timing.

Your link, though, is pretty cut-and-dried.
