I have to say that I tried to avoid root access for quite a while. However, rooting my phone has finally made me a satisfied G1 customer. There are many things that make my rooted phone a real alternative to an iPhone, among them:
1) ability to change themes (icons, layout, transparencies) as much as I want (user perspective: this was promised, but not implemented) 2) ability to store run apps from SD card, freeing up gobs of space (user perspective: what the hell else do you want an SD card for, especially when your internal memory runs out so quickly?) 4) multitouch browser and picture sorter (user perspective: much better than default browser's zoom implementation) 5) autorotating screen for applications depending on position of phone 5) task manager, screenshot utility, file manager, etc, etc I showed off my rooted G1 to the gobs of iPhone users in my office, and they were finally impressed. The G1 actually EXCEEDS the iPhone in some ways now, whereas before it was some strange, expensive non- competitor (ala Zune). --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
