I think one of the often-forgotten challenges in software is
upgrades.  Installing something from scratch is easier than taking a
customized system that the user is already used to and happy with, and
upgrading it without breaking things.
Upgrades are hard and thus scary.  Making upgrades and future
innovation easy requires getting a good platform that works well not
just now but in the future.

SDcard usage for apps etc is complicated because it might be unmounted
at any time.  And I've already seen sdcard corruption when I pulled my
phone off the usb without remembering to properly unmount it.  So it
is important to think it thru to avoid some really frustrated
customers.

Android is very young.  So I expect that we'll get most of that stuff,
in official builds, in ways that work both now and in the future.
And remember that the carriers also have to be happy with the
results.  They're investing a lot in this platform.
