I've been involved with several VC funded companies over the past 15 years and have seen VCs focus on a variety of things, so I think we agree that Erics assertion that; "Without a business model on how you intend to make a profit from it, no one would be willing to invest on it ..." isn't necessarily true. The two common things that I have seen are them looking for what would make a potential investment recipient different from the rest of the market and how quickly the rest of the market could catch up (along with the obvious due dilligence questions of is the company going to go bust even with the investment). This is because there's little point in investing in something that by the time the deal is done the value of the investment has already been significantly eroded by an organisation the VC fund doesn't have an investment in. I don't remember questioning the mobile market as a viable sector for VC investment, in fact I think there are some good opportunities around, so please let me know where you've got this impression from so I can make sure I'm clearer in future.
