I have heard of people canceling the data service after they initiated the G1 with their Gmail account.
So short answer you will need it initially but can cancel after the initial week/month but won't have data service when out of WiFi range. T-mobile insists on one having a data plan with the G1. So if my current voice plan is $39.99 ($47 incl taxes) then the $25 data plan pushes it to about a $75 monthly bill. If I only intend to use the internet features when I have WiFi access - just like I would a laptop - then why does one need a data plan? Forcing customers to have a data plan means fewer customers willing to pay the higher $75 monthly bill. Or is there a technical reason for this? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
