As the subject says: do we do this for the love of building something new and exciting ... or do we do it for the hope of money?!
In my case, I'd say different on different days. When I got started with Android, it was for love of developing on a new platform and reaching out to a big audience. But when its the end of a long day and I'm still stuck solving a tricky problem, I think its the hope of eventually getting paid that keeps me going!!
