I still don't buy your arguments. You seem to have good intentions but the road
to hell is paved with good intentions. Saying that you know best doesn't cut it.

Rights and freedoms are of the few things worth going to war for.
I know that some people would argue that they want the "freedom" to
view flash, but it doesn't work like that. Supporting them = enabling
them to oppress you.

There are ALTERNATIVES to flash that do the SAME THING, which are
OPEN, and well supported at the browser level. Wouldn't it be nice if
those were used INSTEAD? Say for example, SMIL?

And take all those stupid video sites that use flash-based video
players... THERE IS NO REASON to be doing that. Just link to the video
file and it'll play!

Thinking like that is how wars get started.

You people are missing the point. Historically, flash has been
extremely slow to support multiple platforms. It is closed-source
proprietary nonsense being used in a medium that depends on open
standards. If you want to develop a website to be compatible with the
greatest number of clients, you do NOT use flash. Use of flash does
and WILL ALWAYS cause problems for a LOT of people, therefore since
there are some very stupid developers who actually use it, the only
solution is to eliminate flash. You can't use what doesn't exist.

And you're talking about getting a better processor? Flash is a burden
to even the latest 4+ core desktop/server chips... this is a mobile
phone forum.

flash is simply a richer internet experience. to pay for it, you foot
the higher bandwidth and processor overhead.

it's an option, a welcome one to a lot of people. and smart people
developing for the internet will still optimize mobile sites to run
well on mobile devices. keep in mind that flash came to being as a
way to deliver animation, games, and applications with low overhead at
inception. its portability and functionality is what lead to
widespread adoption.

frankly if you don't want it, turn it off. but don't begrudge the
people that do want it.
