There is definitely a limit to their moderation. There is plenty of stuff on there that should be moderated, there are even some apps that should be moderated away -- those that are promoting what are clearly illegal activities. It is also a problem that there are "adult" apps when there is a complete lack of controls to keep out minors -- something like "safesearch" that google employs on their image search feature would be a good first step, and have it password locked (not using the unlock gesture).
Worse, of course, are the comments that some people leave. It is amazing what some people will post, as if they don't realize that every single thing that they post can be traced back to them PERSONALLY. I will say this though... from the perspective of a USER, I ignore negative comments that aren't worded politely and precisely. Those comments showing a complete lack of intelligence are of no use and do NOT factor into my consideration of the quality of an app. I do pay attention to well worded and intelligent negative/constructive comments.
