IMHO, I would recommend getting a G1 as it will be easier to unlock
(which is necessary to root).  The lack of a physical keyboard on the
MyTouch makes completing the process more difficult (you are not able
to press some keyboard buttons).  I expect there are workarounds, but
if you are unlocking, you will have an easier time on the G1.
