That because the skin is only just a screen size def (800x480 in this case), with some background drawn around in the emulator window. To have their custom status bar, they would have to ship a real SDK add-on, which would include both an emulator system image and the skin. I'm guessing they aren't ready to ship the former. I hope they do plan to ship an SDK add-on, as it would be the best for developers wishing to target this device.
