At the moment alternative app markets seem to be more focused on
establishing themselves as something different as opposed to working
together.

We (AndAppStore) worked with an OEM to develop their app market
strategy, system architecture, etc., they drew up a contract to bundle
a customised version of the AndAppStore client, and then refused to
sign it and developed an in-house developed solution.

We're always looking at ways to make things easier for developers, and
we're looking at feed parsing at the moment ;).
