If you do not mod your phone, then this argument is nill. If you stick with the firmware that came with the phone, along with the OTA updates you receive, you should have no problem using those apps. I understand your frustration, as I've had my G1 rooted and modded for some time (starting with Jesus Freke's ROMs), but you really need to step outside the "user" persona and see this through the eyes of a corporation.
