Are you implying Google's and Craigslist's UIs are bad? They are mainly used for information retrieval. So minimalism works here. They don't need any EXTRA crap on their site. And you think that's bad?
The apps I reviewed, some of them are just black background with 8pt white texts. Try read it with your 3.1" G1's screen and give me a word describing how you feel about the UI. Poor is an understatement. Painful is most likely the better fitting one here.
