I was unable to find any info on Goggle regarding possible workaround
for updating HTC Hero via Linux, rather than Windows.
Mine is running firmware version 1.5, kernel 2.6.27-a5504199 and I have
now, after 7 months, beginning to see that lag problem others have
described. This is unbranded phone bought SIM-free so is not locked to
any particular network. Short of sending it to HTC for update (which I
suspect would not be free of charge) what are my options? I do not have
any computer running Windows and the update doesn't work via VirtualBox
with WinXP as a guest OS.
