I would appreciate more lead time for new releases and that there is at
least that much time left for bugs to be reported *and* fixed.
I think 1.5 gave us some lead time, but not enough time that Google were
able to fix things that developers outside of OHA reported. Or am I
remembering that wrong?

And the releases afterward we got basically together with the users (+/- a
couple of weeks), right?

The thing is it is not that bad to support 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.1
which all have different features, but it would be much better if they were
a little more bug free.

Also it would be fantastic if the versions stats – so prominently linked
from the developer site – would be updated as promised:
http://developer.android.com/intl/zh-TW/resources/dashboard/platform-versions.html

Anybody has a good idea how Google could help the manufacturers to get their
act together so that we can at least let 1.5 die?

Having said that, it seems that Google's focus is much more on device
manufactures and users. So far that seems to be a good bet. The platform is
growing. And at the end of the days I prefer having access to more users
over getting documentation, a roadmap, developer participation or a properly
tested product.
