While I agree that the iPhone multitasking is limited to those seven
types (or options), I have thought a lot and can't think of really any
background apps that would not be covered.

The only ones I could think of would be apps that monitor other
sensors (accelerometer trackers, like step counters or camera apps
that work in the background (although that is a stretch)).  Any other
cases?  (I'm not including task managers because the iPhone really
doesn't need one)

I like android's freedom, but I really think the UX could be improved.
