Have we seen any 1.x devices get a 2.x update yet? (I'm talking about in the hands of consumers, not things like Acers Eclair demo on the Liquid).

I'd be surprised if there was an "official" 2.x release for the G1 give the amount of flash and physical RAM it has. I'm not saying it's possible, but I think doing it would be more effort than most carriers want to put into it.

They did it for 1.6. Its not impossible. (They'll face a pr mess if they don't, since they got most everyone into 2 year contracts with the g1 to begin with.)

Its very unlikely the G1 will ever receive a 2.1 upgrade - even if there was, it would not be an over the air update.. you would have to download it to a PC, and install it.

It is impossible for the G1 to receive an 2.0/2.1 over the air update. There physically is not enough disk space on the device...

That is, unless they create a "slim" edition of 2.1 specifically for the G1.. again.. unlikely...
