The google group is the authoritative source, the NNTP front end provided by the third party (gmane.org) is exactly that, a third party front end. If you want information about the group please refer to the authoritative source (the groups groups page), and please do not draw assumptions based on the methods 3rd parties use to present that information (e.g. the newsgroup name chosen by gmane). It nice of you to share your personal opinions on which you prefer, but that doesn't alter the fact that the google groups page is where you should look for information in relation to this group.
