I have a Tegra 2 Android tablet which costs £250 (about ~65% the cost of the tab in the UK) and it's benchmark scores are between 2 to 3.5 times faster than the Tab. Currently the Tab looks good because most Android 'phones are of a simliar or lesser spec. But I can honestly see that by the end of June it looking limited compared to the Tegra 2 Honeycomb tabs which will be around.
Porting to a tab isn't difficult, I put up a post of how to include a Tab-friendly UI in an app at http://blog.alsutton.com/2010/12/07/android-tablet-phone-uis-in-one-apk-how-to/ which should help get you started. A lot of the framework is already in place, all you need to do is be aware of how to use it. Al.
