Well, I'm officially XOOM'd.

Some notes:

-- No, you don't have to sign up for a data plan. My XOOM let me skip
that and go straight to the home screen, setting up a Google account
later. The XOOM quick-start instructions say you can skip the data
plan and do a WiFi setup on first start, which did not fit what I saw.
Regardless, if you don't want to shell out $20/month for a data plan,
you do not have to.

-- Yes, it requires a proprietary charger. Proprietary chargers make
$BABYDEITY cry.

-- HDMI-out does work to project the regular Android screen, though
the aspect ratio seemed to confuse my TV, causing it to crop the
bottom. A micro-HDMI to HDMI cable is all you need. I had one I tried
with a couple of devices last year (EVO 4G and DROID Incredible,
IIRC), and that cable worked fine for the XOOM.
