When you're Google, yes, the company works 7 days a week. Individuals
don't, obviously, but as an entity it's moving all the time with operations
folks and the like. Market Publishing is a production system used by a very
large number of people, so I would imagine that someone was indeed working
on it over the weekend, whether we hear about it or not.
I know the scale is completely different, but imagine if Search was having
issues over the weekend. You think they'd wait until Monday to fix it?

Even small companies might respond to a problem like this by having IT
in over the weekend to solve it. Indeed I've heard that the culture at
Google is 24/7 and the "badge of honor" is working long hours. The
latter I don't agree with and often tried to keep production hours under
50 when I was managing groups. Beyond that people may be just spinning
their wheels but OTOH you have to realize that programmers often work
artist hours and not 9-5.
