Ughh, I guess I need to be less obsessive about monitoring my stats (I check multiple times a day). The truth of the matter, is that it really doesn't matter that much. I am more interested in long term trends, and need to focus less on changes throughout the day.
I did notice my "Active Installs" percentage went down significantly yesterday (3%), while my number of downloads stayed the same. I also notice that comments seem to appear very quickly after they are posted (I can tell this, because I use my personal Market account to reply to user comments, etc). Comments appear almost instantly. I use Distimo to monitor my statistics, which will be easier to data mine long term. I also use Google analytics, which gives me a very accurate count on the number of people actually using my app every day (and other more useful usage statistics). Bottom line, relying on the stats from the market is unreliable, and probably not that worthwhile - I am using other sources of information. Unfortunately, for one key stat (number of actual downloads) the Market is the only place to get this info.
