Don't know if it's my computer, but nearly 4 minutes is slow.

Many thanks,
Mike

Probably your computer and Windows. I so use Linux most of the time that when I fire up a Windows machine I am completely bewildered that the public still uses Windows. First off there are the annoying "updates." On Linux you just have a little icon which indicates updates available which one can do at their convenience (usually as I shut down some nights). But not only does Microsoft bug you with this stuff but also about every other company that you've made the mistake of installing their software or only use it once in a blue moon. But someone at Microsoft has decided that aunt Millie won't do updates unless it's in her face. Sure you can cancel the update notice and do them later but it's annoying to have them pop up right in the middle of doing something and taking the focus away from the window you're in.

Secondly I have a year old Windows 7 four core 64-bit machine I bought for video, graphics and some development other than Android. I also have the Android SDK on it so I can run fast secondary monkey testing. When I got the machine it was ready to go in 1 minute. Now it takes up to 5 minutes (my Ubuntu boot takes 15 seconds and is ready to go). Which means I have to go find services that Microsoft or some dweeb at a company thinks should run on boot and eliminate it. Pick the wrong one and you're screwed. Sure there are articles on doing this all with the prior warning too. But why should I EVER need to do this? And some people think that Linux isn't user friendly.
