We're getting ready to release an update to our free app that includes "premium" features. We were going to use in-app purchase to unlock those features but have decided to hold off on this because of all the problems with patent trolls.
Consequently, we're going to use the old way of receiving payment, namely, an unlock app. My idea is to have an app that grants the user a license for one year and as much as two years. For example, the 2012 unlock app will keep the premium features functioning through 12/31/2012, and will be for sale in the market until probably 06/30/2012 at which time a 2013 version will be released that will keep the app functioning until 12/31/2013. A user who buys the 2012 app will be required to buy the 2013 app after the 2012 app expires in order to keep the premium features active. I didn't see anything in the terms that would prevent this type of app. Any opinions on using this method? -John Coryat -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
