If just non coding help you're looking into first, either lifehacker, xda portal, or similar recently featured someones youtube tutorial on assembling the electronics required for activating the usb host function. I think that was for the motorola atrix. After the electronics I guess it would be a matter of compiling the driver. But I think the motherboard will either be able to host and inform on incoming usb data or not.
