If the notifications are from the apps you can always long press the
notification and remove the notification permissions for the specific app.
I have no way to know that--what I see in the notification area is
the GO trefoil icon, not anything from the actual apps, and when I go
to the GO market (by the pulldown where it gives the detail of the
notification), it shows a list of apps "needing" updates, which push
me to the Play market if I click on one. And they don't show as
having an update there. The update notifications surely are not
coming from the actual app themselves, they ARE up to date, as best
as I can tell.
