Yep, I do also have this issue with my Padfone 2. I think it's a problem with Gmail.
By the way, there is another sync problem : the trash and the send box are not translated, but they are in gmail, so if I send an email from my phone it is put in a directory "Sent" (does the same if I delete an email, but int he bow "Trash"), different from the real "Sent" and "Trash" normal directories of gmail.
