Like Jim and others who reported here before my sales are a fraction of the sales on Play with a boost after the Kindle Fire came out. I was about to implement DRM for yet another third party store but now I won't bother. Amazon's app is available for any Android device and doesn't require the Google API. That means that people were able to get my apps for the inexpensive tablets that are available and don't come with the Google API. Play is on some of these devices now that Google has reduced the license fee per unit. But Google has narrow payment options. Sure in the US you can walk into grocery and drug stores and get Google Play cards starting at $10 but those probably don't exist yet in a lot of the countries where Play supports paid apps. Amazon has more payment options for users.

And Amazon has developer support. You can open a ticket and get a response. Where's that on Play? They did recently "suppress" my first app because it won't run on a Kindle Fire since it requires the Google API due to it using Maps. I wrote back that I already had a version of that app for Kindle Fire on their store minus the Maps. They have their own Maps now but I feel that is no longer needed since I recently released versions with a 156,000 location atlas which includes DST corrected time zones. And if I am correct it looks like their Maps will only work on Kindles. In fact they had kind of a weird setup where you could supply your Google Maps key for non-Kindle devices. I don't think that will work. Also I need to contact them so I can update those users who bought the first app which was released well in advance of the Fire. However they do now have a check list where you can select non Amazon devices for an app if you want.
