I too am very interested in its applications outside of mobile phones. At the moment, it is inferred in the design of how you instantiate activities that there is always a UI present. I'm pretty certain that android is geared to be portable to all sorts of hardware and not just phones.
I have yet to see any concrete deployment of android outside of a mobile phone chipset. A month or two ago it was reported that Buglabs were working on something but I've yet to see anything: Buglabs - http://buglabs.net/products. Article where it was announced - http://www.alleyinsider.com/2007/11/open_source_bug_can_run_android_sells_next_month Has anyone else found anything?
