My understanding has been that there is no support for UML1.3 support in
AndroMDA.  If am wrong, someone please correct me.

If there was UML1.3 support, my understanding is that it would be of
limited use because the cartridges depend on UML14 interfaces and the
underlying model.  Again, if am wrong, someone please correct me.

Yes it does. You do it by loading a .zargo file from ArgoUML and saving
it as the default .zuml file.  Your diagram layout will probably be
mangled, but you wont care if you are only interested in UML 1.3 to UML
1.4 metamodel conversion.  

FYI, after the conversion there is no straightforward way to go back to
ArgoUML and UML 1.3.
