I'm totally lost with Angstrom.
I have been using various Zaurus configurations with a variety or ROMs for several years, but I am completely lost here.
I have read the WIKI.
I have installed the Akita (Angstrom-x11-image-test-20070507- akita.rootfs.summary.jffs2) distribution on my C1000, and the first thing I need to get going is Wireless networking.

Quoting from the manual:
"The best wifi devices for linux are based on the prism2 or prism2.5 chipsets, because they can be controlled using the hostap drivers, which allows the use of WEP and WPA encryption. Other chipsets such as Spectrum24 in the Socket/Symbol CF wifi cards can only do WEP." - I have a WCF11 that uses Prism2 chipset. I have configured it for my network using the Network Configuration applet.

Again from the manual:
"The base install of Ångström for Zaurus/Spitzdid not include wireless-tools, so if you cannot use the iwconfig or iwspy commands, be sure to install the wireless-tools package!" - It took a while but I finally found the if... tools in /sbin, but when I try to start the interface with /sbin/ifup wlan0 ti tells me "No such device", even though it is clearly there in ht Network Configuration GUI. I don't know what to do next. - I looked on the Feed Browser, but cannot find .ipkg files to download onto a sd card to install them that way. I don't have a "big" Linux PC on which to compile, and would not know how to make an .ipkg anyway.

Please, someone help me get the WI-FI card working - after that I can find and install the packages I need.

Walt
