I'm using the same card on a C3200, wiht the 20011017 Spitz image.
I made the following modifications to /etc/network/interfaces to add
the lines:
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
pre-up iwpriv wlan0 reset 1
wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
wpa-drivers hostap
and it comes up after reboot with the hostap drivers configured:
#pccardctl status
Socket 0:
3.3V 16-bit PC Card
Subdevice 0 (function 0) bound to driver "ide-cs"
Socket 1:
3.3V 16-bit PC Card
Subdevice 0 (function 0) bound to driver "hostap_cs"
the problem I'm having right now is to get it to survive going into
standby, the card just refuses to work at all after t wakes up, and
I need to reboot. :-(

I also encounter this problem on my Akita and a AmbiCom WCL1100C-CF --
orinoco is loaded instead of hostap. Of course, I don't know a card
that can only be used by orinoco now -- I exclusively use hostap.
