I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but on my poodle, I have to re-insert 
the wifi card between 3 and 10 times before the system will actually load it 
up.  dmesg shows that the card is detected, but hostap doesnt seem to do 
anything for the first bunch of times i insert the card.  Very frustrating...
