Sorry to disappoint you, but I agree! I prefer $http myself too. It gives 
me a level of control I miss while using $resource. Put a few of those 
together in a service and you have your own version of $resource, without 
it's quirkiness.
I have been told restangular <https://github.com/mgonto/restangular> does 
work 'better' but to me it gives me even less control. 

So my answer would be, just use $http! If you are comfortable with that, go 
ahead! You can build an $resource with it that fits your bill quite easily!

PS. For myself, I would get the $resource thing working before ditching it 
;) I can't stand it if the darn thing does not "obey" to my will ;)
